What does D&I mean to me?
My mission in life is to secure the world. Security starts within, and if people cannot be themselves, if they feel unwanted, and unappreciated, security will elude us. Inclusion is for all, from gender to lifestyle to culture to neurodivergence. Gender is one of the most visible forms of diversity or lack thereof.
At Fox-IT, I think our most important thing is to foster a culture of togetherness. Next to that, we seek to recruit people who are complimentary to us, not more of the same. This is super important in security. Different viewpoints make our service so much better. Still, I would like to see more women in our firm. We’ve risen from 15% to about 20% in two years’ time, and the bracket ‘non-specified’ is also growing.
Why do you think is important that Role Models need to be visible?
I didn’t have a role model when I started my career, I wish I did. I have never succeeded a woman, I was the first in every position so far.
