UBER

“At Uber, we are committed to creating a workplace where every person thrives. We believe that Great Minds Don’t Think Alike. This is one of our cultural values. A huge part of this is building a diverse team in our Amsterdam site, which serves as our EMEA HQ. With almost 80 nationalities represented, we already know the value of different experiences and perspectives. This is no truer than in our tech teams, where we build solutions that support earners, riders and eaters alike. Our partnership with Equals in Amsterdam highlights just some of our amazing talent and gives you a glimpse of what it is like to work at Uber.”

About

”I grew up playing team sports and video games. The gaming hobby built my confidence in working with a computer and the interne. By the time I was 18 the choice to study Computer Science came natural. During my Masters years I spotted and grabbed opportunities to dabble in entrepreneurship and intern internationally. These built my confidence to apply internationally and land the job at Uber almost 8.5 years ago. Today, I’m a happy and proud Engineering Manager II at Uber: I get to coach and grow people & teams and shape & ship value to people moving, eating and making a living all across the world!”

Why do you think is important that Role Models need to be visible?

“Big goals are daunting enough as-is. Learning that “someone like you” (be it in gender expression, abilities, birthplace, race, etc.) has been able to succeed can give that extra bit of confidence to take the first and many following steps that make up progress. Better than seeing role models, is learning from or relating to them.”
